Henry Owainati is Co-Founder and Chief Investment Officer at ConsulCapital LLC, a private investment firm focused on direct real estate strategies based in Darien, Connecticut. Consul is seeking to finance urban projects in America’s underserved towns and cities. Henry has over 20 years experience investing and managing alternative assets with expertise in private equity and direct real estate. He is an experienced investor in underserved markets including the transition economies of Eastern Europe and the former Soviet Union, and postwar Iraq where he advised with the U.S. Department of Commerce on private and public financing of reconstruction projects including affordable housing development. His experience covers the developed markets as well, where he invested with private equity partnerships in the U.S. and Europe, deploying capital in leveraged buyouts, growth, distressed situations and real estate. He is also Non-Executive Director at Old Hill Partners, a multi strategy private investment firm. Henry is the former Managing Director and Co-Head of Global Private Equity at Vienna based Bank Gutmann with $19 billion in assets, and former Senior Banker with Bank Austria-UniCredit Group. He holds a B.A. from the University of Rochester, a Masters degree from Boston University, and is a CFA Charterholder.
