Michael Behrendt

Michael Behrendt is the Planning Director for the Town of Durham, NH, where he has worked since July 2012.  Prior to this, he served as Rochester, NH’s chief planner for 16 years, and prior to that, he was a planner in Beaufort, SC (near Savannah and Hilton Head).  He was recognized by NHPA as the New Hampshire Planner of the Year in 2009.  Michael has a Masters Degree in City Planning from Boston University and a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology from Tufts University.  He has given many presentations about new urbanism and other planning topics around New England over the years.  Michael is the author of "The Architectural Jewels of Rochester, NH: A History of the Built Environment", a primer on architecture and the human habitat, published in 2009 by The History Press, Charleston SC.  He also wrote “Comme D’Or:  The First Fifty Years of Holy Rosary Credit Union”, published in 2011 by Holy Rosary Credit Union, Rochester, NH.
